The One Question Every Candidate Should Ask

Sep 21
1 min read

There is one question I tell every candidate to ask on every validation call.

“Knowing what you know now, would you invest in this franchise again?”

Then stay quiet.

Current owners have every reason to talk their investment up. Former owners have no incentive to protect the brand. If more than a couple of people in a decent sample say no, that is not a personality clash. That is data.

Validation is important because it is the only part of due diligence the franchisor does not write. Those calls are designed to tell you whether you should.
